Memory Palace ("we", "our", or "the app") is a memory training application that helps you build and manage memory palaces. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored as a cryptographic hash). You may also set a display nickname.
If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and a provider-specific identifier. We do not receive or store your social account password.
The palaces, scenes, loci, and images you create are stored on our servers to enable cloud sync across your devices.
If you share a palace to the community, the shared palace data, along with any comments, likes, and download records, are stored on our servers.
If you subscribe to a premium plan, we receive subscription status, product identifiers, and purchase/expiry dates from the app store (via RevenueCat). We do not process or store your payment card details.
We collect a device identifier solely for managing authentication tokens (login sessions).
The app may request access to your location only when you use the street view picker feature, to center the map on your current position. Location data is not stored on our servers. Additionally, some third-party services we use (such as RevenueCat and Expo) may receive an approximate location — for example your country or region — derived from your device's IP address when the app communicates with them. We do not store this location data ourselves.
The app may request access to your photo library to let you import images as scene backgrounds. Photos are only accessed when you explicitly choose to import them.
We do not sell your personal data. We use the following third-party services:
These services receive only the minimum data necessary to perform their function.
Your account information and private cloud content are retained while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app at Settings → Account → Delete Account or through our account deletion page.
After confirmation, your account, sign-in identity, private cloud library, and account-linked Community listings and interactions are removed from the active service. Private uploaded files and linked external-provider data enter our deletion queue. After successful completion, the deletion-processing record is retained for a 30-day window and becomes eligible for removal by scheduled cleanup after that window. If a deletion requires retry or investigation, we retain only the minimum processing evidence needed to complete and verify it until the issue is resolved. Limited subscription or security-audit records that are no longer linked to your active account may be retained when needed for fraud prevention, accounting integrity, security, or legal obligations.
Palaces that other people already downloaded remain in their libraries. Image files previously published through Community and existing recipients’ download-access records may also be retained so previously downloaded copies can be kept or restored. Your former Community listings will no longer be public or available for new downloads. Account deletion does not cancel or refund an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription; subscriptions are managed separately through the applicable store.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and secure token-based authentication.
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
You may request access to or correction of your personal data at any time by contacting us. To delete an account, use the in-app control or our account deletion page.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
